Lunascape mobile Ver.12 Official Version Released

～First in Japan to Include Experimental web3 Functionality～

G.U.Labs Inc. (Headquarters: Shibuya-ku, Tokyo; CEOs: Takaaki Inaba, Hidekazu Kondo), which conducts research and development for the web3 era, has released "Lunascape mobile Ver.12 Official Version," a web browser for smartphones. In addition to various added features, a MetaMask-compatible web3 wallet has been experimentally integrated, enabling seamless access to next-generation web3 services. The G.U. Group, including G.U.Technologies Inc., aims to continue providing web3 service infrastructure that general users can easily utilize.

Lunascape Now Supports web3 Sites

Lunascape, available in both desktop and smartphone versions, is a domestically produced browser that has been used by over 20 million users cumulatively in Japan for more than 20 years, supported for its safety, speed, and feature-rich functionality.

Since its release in 2001, it has gained popularity as the world's first tab browser, providing services with a primary focus on speed, safety, and privacy protection. Currently, in addition to world-standard ad blocking, high-speed browsing, RSS reader, and theme switching functionality, it features unique functions such as ultra-high-speed tab browsing (trace tab switching), flick gesture functionality, user agent customization, and e-book viewing capabilities, receiving daily updates as essential infrastructure for more comfortable use of various web services.

In this version, a MetaMask-compatible web3 wallet has been experimentally integrated into the "Lunascape" web browser, enabling Lunascape mobile users to seamlessly access web3 services on Ethereum.

◽️Challenges of web3 Services

Challenges of web3 Tools Recently, both domestically and internationally, services compatible with web3, the so-called next-generation web, centered on crypto assets and NFTs, have been increasing and gaining attention. However, there are few necessary tools—browsers and wallets—for using them, and even when available, there has been a usability issue of very high difficulty for general users. Providing Safe and Easy web3 Tools To solve this challenge, the G.U. Group believed it necessary to provide browsers and wallets that enable safe and easy access to web3 services and management of one's assets. Therefore, by leveraging over 20 years of browser development expertise and the knowledge from the desktop extension-type web3 wallet "G.U. Smart Wallet" released in 2021, we integrated the web3 wallet developed for "G.U. Smart Wallet" into the mobile web browser "Lunascape," enabling users to seamlessly access web3 services on Ethereum.

Lunascape mobile Ver.12 Update Details

Experimental Integration of web3 Wallet By experimentally integrating wallet functionality using the technology of the web3 wallet "G.U.Smart Wallet" provided by the G.U. Group, seamless access to web3 content on Ethereum has become possible. When enabled from the settings screen, users can utilize web3 services such as dApps including Uniswap on websites compatible with Ethereum-compatible networks, and conduct crypto asset transactions and NFT trading. Enhanced Ad Blocking Functionality Ad blocking functionality can now be toggled on/off for each website. This functionality allows users to freely choose settings such as enabling it on pages where they don't want ads blocked or disabling it on pages where the ad blocking functionality malfunctions. Dark Mode Support Dark mode support has been implemented. Using dark mode enables reduced power consumption. File Saving to "Photos" Now Possible The temporarily restricted functionality of saving downloaded images to iOS "Photos" has been restored. Improved Convenience of Address/Search Bar URL Autocomplete and search suggestion functionality have been enhanced.
